Easter Workshops 2020
This workshop will focus on singing repertoire from a selection of well known musical theatre repertoire. This workshop will be led by Abhisri and Eoin and will focus on age appropriate vocal technique, movement and the opportunity to work on chorus and solo songs from your favourite shows.
Rock & Pop
In this workshop, pupils will be given the opportunity to try various instruments including guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, keyboard and drum kit. The group will learn at least one song to perform together at the end of the day. Other instrumentalists not listed above are welcome and can be catered for. With so many options, there is something to suit everyone. Children with no prior musical experience are also welcome.
All workshops will take place at the MLA studio.
Children will need to bring a packed lunch and snacks.
Places must be booked in advance.
Summer Music Programme 2020
Our Junior Music Course is suitable from aged 4-7. Children will experience a week of musical fun developing and reinforcing basic musical skills including pitch and rhythm. Throughout the week they will learn thorough singing and rhythm games, percussion instruments, learning new songs and working towards an informal presentation within the studio at the end of course for family to enjoy. A great way to introduce your child to music in a relaxed and fun environment as well as continue any prior musical experience. There are two weeks dedicated to this age group, both with different content to allow for children who want to attend both courses.
Rock and Pop Summer Course
Join MLA in an exciting new summer school format providing children the opportunity to try a variety of different instruments and perform together creating their own rock and pop group. Tasters on drum-kit, bass guitar, ukulele, keyboard, piano and vocals are given before choosing an instrument to perform as part of our end of course concert. Other instrumentalists not listed above are welcome and can be catered for. With so many options, there is something to suit everyone. Children with no prior musical experience are also welcome.
Musical Theatre Summer Course
Suitable for ages 8 - 16, a team of industry professionals will guide students through the art of singing, acting and dancing, working on a selection of musical theatre repertoire suitable for the age and stage of performers. A varied week with the opportunity for solo singing, chorus singing, choregraphed numbers and dialogue, this course is aimed at novice performers and those with experience of musical theatre performance. Students should wear clothing comfortable for movement and if they would like, bring a prepared solo musical theatre song to work on during the course.
Brass Summer Course
Join Music Lessons Angus for it’s third Brass Summer Course held at the MLA Studio, Arbroath. The course is for young brass players that are grade 3 to Grade 8. The course will focus on developing ensemble skills and musicianship, working on and performing new repertoire and further developing general technique of brass playing in a fun and supportive environment. Everyone will also have the opportunity to develop solo playing skills and performance techniques. Everyone is encouraged to bring a solo piece that they are working on, preferably with piano accompaniment to work on during the course. Throughout the duration of the course, students will take part in solo masterclasses and performance classes where they will have the opportunity to perform to each other as well as develop their own listening skills. At the end of the course, there will be a short concert, showcasing the work of the ensemble during the course and provide a performance opportunity. The course will be led by highly trained teachers that have a vast amount of experience in performing and teaching brass instruments.
